point

Sherry and I took a trip to California and spent an evening at Point Reyes watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.  The moment inspired me to create this piece.
I wanted to do a gradient of some sort, so I used MS Paint to mock up the color placement.  Then, I cut out sections of card stock (laminated on one side to avoid rubber cement damage) to "rough out" the general pattern.
Next, I started layer the strips of paper.  The goal was to "blur" the edges of the background until the entire gradient appeared seamless.
To finish the piece, I first coated it with UV preservative spray.  Then, I covered the piece with Liquitex Pouring Medium to seal the paper into place.  This coating also gave the piece a nice effect by letting the texture of the paper strips show through.
