Below, I’m figuring out which colors to use, and the ratios necessary to mix them.   I’m always looking for efficiencies, so I had fun designing a custom mixing tool using some packing tape, a bamboo stick, and a dremel; I was able to mix the paint right in the bottle!
Here I am cutting and painting the acetate.  I built some nice work surfaces for the painting process using empty glass picture frames.  This keeps the paint off the table, and after the paint has dried, I can easily clean up the dried leftovers with a glass scraper.
Below is photo of the “naked” board with a grid I drew on it for reference. The process of layering the strips took a few weeks, and was improvisational; I developed the design as I progressed through the layering.
Finally, all the strips had been laid.  The last step was to coat the piece in resin.  Although it's more expensive than regular resin, I like to use ArtResin.  It behaves just like the normal stuff, but it's non-toxic and doesn't smell (much)!
